Chairperson, Quality Review Board

Ms Meenakshi Gupta, IA&AS (Retd.) 1984 batch, has been appointed, by the Government of India, as Chairperson of the Quality Review Board established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949.

She had earlier served as Whole Time Member of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. Prior to that she had served at the rank of Secretary to Government of India as Deputy Comptroller & Auditor General. She has more than 40 years of experience in public policy, finance and auditing. She has held a number of varied assignments in Government of India including Deputy Secretary in Ministry of Science & Technology, Joint Secretary in Ministry of Labour & Employment, Additional Secretary in Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers and the Member Secretary National Commission for women.

She was also associated with reforms in Urban Local Bodies during her stint in New Delhi Municipal Council and labour sector reforms during her stint in Ministry of Labour and Employment. She has been a Government nominee director on the board of several Government companies and autonomous institutions of the Government of India.

As Deputy CAG she has led and supervised preparation of several audit reports relating to audit of the Central Board of Direct Taxes and Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs. Her other major assignments in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department included Director General in the office the C&AG of India, Accountant General, UP and Accountant General, Delhi. She also had the opportunity to work in different offices of CAG of India in North Eastern states for more than seven years.

Ms. Meenakshi Gupta did her M.A. in Economics from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi and subsequently did Masters in Development Economics from University of Bath, United Kingdom. She is also Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Internal Auditor.

Ms. Gupta conducted audit of United Nations and World Intellectual Property Rights Organization. She also conducted training programmes in Bhutan and Indonesia for the staff of the Supreme Audit Institutions of these countries.
